Our developmental music classes (ages 6 months to 5 years) give parents and caregivers the tools they need to help their infants, toddlers, and preschoolers explore a variety of environments and experiences through music. We approach music as a medium for play and exploration. Led by Ms. Cheryl a Board Certified music therapist and PA certified music educator, our music activities stimulate the senses and involve the children at many levels providing lots of opportunity to enhance language, social, and cognitive development. Fridays at 9:15 are for ages 2 - 5 and introduce music games, following directions, and cooperative play to encourage meeting developmental milestones at this age. We provide all the drums, shakers, props, books, and more needed to enhance the children's' experience.
Classes are limited to 12 children, ages 6 months to 5 years old. Minimum of 5 children needed to run a class. From Sept - May we run sets of 6 classes for $72. We accept Cash, Check, PayPal, or Venmo. You'll receive a payment request after you register.
RESPIRATORY ILLNESS PROTOCOLS: We continue to use air purifiers and open windows for mitigation. Instruments and props are sanitized between uses. Masks are available at the entrance to the classroom for anyone who'd like to wear one.
CLASS SCHEDULE - once registered, families may attend any class on the schedule. We encourage makeup classes if your child needs to miss one. This flexibility is provided to encourage families to stay home with any signs or symptoms of illness in order to keep our classes running smoothly. Classes are on Tuesdays at 11, Thursdays at 5:00 or 6:00 and Fridays at 9:15 or 10:15.
CLASS LOCATION: 125 S. Turnpike Rd Dalton 18414. Park in the back. Look for the sign that says Summit Music Therapy. Outdoor classes are held on the lawn/basketball court. Please bring a chair or blanket for outdoor classes.
INCLEMENT WEATHER: If Abington Heights SD closes for weather on a Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday, our classes will be cancelled and rescheduled at the end of the 6 week session, adding class weeks as needed. Families will be notified by text at the number provided when class is cancelled or delayed.
OUR TEACHING PHILOSOPHY: This class is designed to offer your child a chance to practice social skills while playing through music. Your guidance as your child learns social skills is welcomed and expected. Thank you for being an active part of your child's social emotional development.

Throughout the year we offer opportunities for children to make music with their "grand-friends" at local long term care homes. The classes are structured much like our music classes but with opportunities built in for the children and older adults to interact.
Preschoolers and Older Adults can expect:
· Movement and dance
· Instrument playing
· Social Interaction
· Emotional Support
The goal of the classes is to meet the holistic needs of the children and the older adults through fun and engaging programming.
