Previously reserved for those in hospice and palliative care, this innovative intervention has shown remarkable results. Feedback from participants revealed that 100% felt a stronger connection to their loved ones after experiencing the customized song.
The Song of the Heart program by Summit Music Therapy offers short-term music therapy aimed at enhancing connections between individuals. It's beneficial for:
- Expectant parents
- Parents (of children or pets)
- Military families
- Individuals in recovery from addiction, depression, trauma, or eating disorders
- Those facing serious illnesses and their families
The program comprises 3-4 sessions:
- Initial consultation by phone or email to understand how this intervention can support your specific needs.
- In-person session to record the heartbeat and craft a personalized song incorporating the heartbeat.
- For Packages 2 and 3 - an additional phone or Zoom consult to further customize the song.
- Follow-up phone or email for customer support and satisfaction.
You will receive the song files by email. CD or USB storage available for an extra fee. We recommend storing the songs in a cloud based storage system like Google Drive or Dropbox in the event of device failure.

The Song of the Heart program can help you introduce your new baby to its siblings and family through song. The baby's heartbeat is recorded with a ThinkLab stethoscope during the third trimester and placed underneath a custom song with lyrics inspired by conversations between Cheryl and the parents. Help your children increase their connection with their sibling before the baby is born and possibly ease the transition of bringing a new child into the home.

Bedtime can be a challenge for some children when one parent can't be there. The Song of the Heart program will record the parent's heartbeat with a stethoscope and place it under a custom song with lyrics inspired by conversations between Cheryl and parents. Use the song to increase your child's connection with you when you can't be physically present.

Leaving for deployment is hard on both the soldier and their family. The Song of the Heart program will record the soldier's heartbeat for their family and also the heartbeats of family members for the soldier. Each are placed under a custom song with lyrics inspired by conversations between Cheryl, the soldier, and family members. Two files are created; one for the solider to take to deployment with the heartbeats of family members and one for the family to keep at home with the heartbeat of the soldier.

A piece of her forever
Being unable to have a human child is something I had accepted. I never felt particularly called to parenthood. The addition of a companion in the form of a dog was my partner's idea. Treasure came to our home when she was 2 years old. Fiesty, funny, stubborn and a kissing bandit she has been such a gift to us.
As we all age things change and the last year had been a tough one. Her health has been challenging for us all, including heart and sight issues. Inquiring about a 'Song of the Heart' through Cheryl was part joy and part pre-passing. Cheryl came to our home to meet and record our little girl's heart.
